Akbar's Tomb, Sikandra
ASI Protected Monument
The mausoleum of Emperor Akbar the Great, begun by Akbar himself and completed by his son Jahangir in 1613, stands in a vast 119-acre charbagh at Sikandra on the Agra–Mathura road. Its five-storeyed sandstone-and-marble pyramid and the ornate Buland Darwaza gateway blend Hindu, Islamic and Persian motifs, mirroring the syncretic outlook of the emperor. Herds of blackbuck grazing in the gardens add to its charm.

How to reach: About 10 km from Agra city centre on NH-19 (Agra–Delhi highway) at Sikandra; city buses, autos and taxis available. The Tomb of Mariam-uz-Zamani is 1 km away.
Facilities & visitor tips: Ticket counter at gate; large gardens suitable for family visits; combine with Guru ka Taal Gurudwara nearby.
