Tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah
ASI Protected Monument
Built between 1622 and 1628 by Empress Nur Jahan for her father Mirza Ghiyas Beg, this riverside mausoleum is the first Mughal structure built entirely of white marble and the first to use pietra dura inlay extensively — earning it the nickname ‘Baby Taj’ as a precursor to the Taj Mahal. Its delicate jali screens and jewel-like inlay reward unhurried viewing, and the site is far quieter than the city’s marquee monuments.
Timings: Sunrise to sunset, all days
Weekly closure / special viewing: Open all seven days.
